William Chittick

ولد 1943

هو مترجم النصوص الفلسفية والصوفية الإسلامية الكلاسيكية. ومن المعروف انه عمل آفاقا جديدة في دراسة الرومي وابن عربي، وكتب على نطاق واسع في مدرسة ابن عربي، والفلسفة الإسلامية، وعلم الكونيات الإسلامي.

سيرته :

ولد في ميلفورد بولاية كونيتيكت، بعد اخذه شهادة BA له في كلية ووستر في ولاية أوهايو، وبعد ذلك ذهب لإكمال درجة الدكتوراه في الأدب الفارسي في جامعة طهران تحت إشراف سيد حسين نصر في عام 1974.

وقال انه درس الدين المقارن في طهران ( آريامهر ) وغادر إيران قبل الثورة.

ويعمل حاليا أستاذا للدراسات الآسيوية والأمريكية الآسيوية في جامعة ستوني بروك.
