الدكتورة مارسيا هيرمانسن هي مديرة برنامج الدراسات العالمية الإسلامية وأستاذ في قسم اللاهوت في جامعة لويولا بشيكاغو. وهي تدرس مقررات في الدراسات الإسلامية والدراسة الأكاديمية للدين وحصلت على الدكتوراه من جامعة شيكاغو في الدراسات العربية والدراسات الإسلامية. وفي سياق تدريبها على البحث واللغة، عاشت لفترات مطولة في مصر والأردن والهند وإيران وتركيا وباكستان، وتجري بحوثا بالعربية والفارسية والتركية والأوردو بالإضافة إلى لغات أوروبية رئيسية أخرى.
