عضو هيئة التدريس في جامعة نيومان ، مركز العلوم والمعرفة والمعتقد في المجتمع ،
تعمل جيسيكا كارلايل حاليًا على تطوير مشروع "العلوم في المجتمعات الإسلامية" كزميل باحث في مركز العلوم والمعرفة والإيمان بجامعة نيومان.
وقد سبق لها أن أنجزت العديد من مشاريع البحوث الاجتماعية والقانونية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا. كان تركيزها الأولي على مساهمات المتقاضين والمحامين والقضاة في الإجراءات القانونية في محاكم الأسرة. ومع ذلك ، فقد عملت في الآونة الأخيرة على النزاعات العائلية عبر الوطنية ، والوصول إلى العدالة بعد الصراع وتحديات المواطنين للدولة من خلال المحاكم الإدارية والدستورية.
كتبت شهادة الدكتوراه في المحكمة الشرعية الأولى في دمشق ، سوريا في 2003-2007 كمرشحة للدكتوراه في كلية الدراسات الشرقية والأفريقية في لندن.
وقد عملت منذ ذلك الحين في مشاريع ما بعد الدكتوراة لـ ISIM في لايدن حول آثار إصلاح قانون الأسرة المغربي (المدونة 2004) في 2007-2008 ، وعلى الحضانة عبر الوطنية (المصرية / الهولندية والمغربية / الهولندية) ونزاعات الوصول في جامعة رادبود في نيميجن خلال الفترة 2008-2012.
كانت أكثر مشاركاتها متابعة كالباحثة الرئيسية في مشروع "الوصول إلى العدالة في ليبيا" في معهد فان فولينهوفن بالتعاون مع الزملاء في جامعة بنغازي.
خلال السنوات الدراسية 2014-16 ، كانت باحثًا مشاركًا في مشروع "القانون الدستوري العابر للحدود" في كلية الحقوق بجامعة مانشستر.
في عام 2014 - 2015 ، كانت أيضًا باحثة زائرة في معهد الدراسات القانونية المتقدمة في لندن تعمل على سياسة المانحين الدوليين بشأن المساعدة القانونية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.
