حصلت على شهادة الماجستير والدكتوراه. في الدراسات الدينية ، مع تخصص في الدراسات الإسلامية ، من جامعة فرجينيا. كتابها القادم ، الذي يحمل عنوان "الوعظ التجديد الإسلامي: السلطة الدينية والإعلام في مصر الحديثة" ، مطبوع حالياً مع مطبعة جامعة كاليفورنيا. مجالات اهتمامها الرئيسية في مجال الدراسات الإسلامية هي: دور العلماء في الإسلام المعاصر ، والوعظ ، والدين الشعبي ، والإعلام والدين. يركز بحثها على الدور الذي يلعبه الخطاب الرسمي في ضمان استمرارية التقاليد الدينية. وعلى وجه التحديد ، فإن الكيفية التي ساعدت بها الوعظ التلفزيوني "علماء" المصريين على إيصال الدين على أنه ملائم اجتماعيًا وتاريخيًا ، وكيف تساعد التقنية في هذه العملية. في بحثها المستقبلي ، تخطط الدكتورة برينتون لمواصلة فحص انتقال وسائل الإعلام للدين ، وتجميع وجهات نظر الإنتاج والاستقبال. التعليم :
