تتركز أبحاثه على التاريخ الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والقانوني للمجتمع اليهودي في أراضي الإسلام في العصور الوسطى , التاريخ الاقتصادي لليهود والمسلمين في مصر ,
ويعمل حاليا على مشروع كتاب يدرس التحضر اليهودي في العراق في عهد العباسيين في وهجرتهم الى منطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط.
