تبحث شاينا سيلفرشتاين في سياسات وجماليات الصوت والحركة في الشرق الأوسط المعاصر. وهي تستكمل حاليا مخطوطة كتابية عن الثقافة الشعبية في سوريا ما قبل الحرب التي تركز على كيفية تقليد الأداء الوطني للدبك الذي ينتمي إلى الطبقة الدينة والإثنية.
