Flagg is currently working on two projects.  The first is a cultural history of a text-processing algorithm used by US counter-terrorism analysts to study and predict terrorist violence.  The second is a study of Muslim reform movements in Syria, Qatar and France and their engagements with the Islamic art of legal disputation (ikhtilaf).
