طالب دكتوراه في اللغة العربية وآدابها في جامعة شيكاغو ، ومحاضر متفرغ للغة العربية في جامعة يوتا.

يعرف نفسه كمؤرخ أدبي ، له اهتمامات في التأليف والاستقبال العربي في العصور الوسطى. البلاغة والشعرية. والمواد الشعبية مثل أدب اللهجات العربية.

حصل على درجة البكالوريوس في الأدب المقارن من جامعة بريغهام يونغ (2007) ، وماجستير في الأدب المقارن من جامعة نورث كارولينا (2009) ، وشهادة تدريب عربية متقدمة من مركز الدراسات العربية في الخارج (CASA) في القاهرة ، مصر ، و ماجستير الثاني في الدراسات العربية والتربية من كلية ميدلبري (2015).
