هو أول أستاذ للدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة تشيستر.
درس الأديان المقارنة والدراسات الإسلامية والفلسفة في جامعة بون وأكمل دراساته العليا والبحوث في كلية الدراسات الشرقية والأفريقية بجامعة لندن.

السيرة الذاتية المهنية :
درس الدين المقارن والدراسات الإسلامية والفلسفة في جامعة بون في ألمانيا وأكمل دراساته العليا وأبحاثه في لندن ، وحصل على درجة الماجستير والدكتوراه من كلية الدراسات الشرقية والأفريقية (SOAS).
بعد التدريس لبضع سنوات في لندن وفي الولايات المتحدة ، التحق أوليفر شاربروت بدراسة إدارة الأديان في جامعة كاليفورنيا في عام 2008.
مسؤول عن تدريس دورات عن الإسلام ،
حاليا هو الباحث الرئيسي في مشروع بحثي ، بتمويل من مجلس البحوث الايرلندي للعلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية (IRCHSS) ، والتحقيق في التطور التاريخي والوضع الحالي للإسلام في أيرلندا.
