أستاذة مساعدة بدراسات الدكتوراه في جامعة تورنتو ، بعد حصولها على درجة الماجستير في جامعة يورك وشهادة البكالوريوس في جامعة بوغازيتشي في اسطنبول.
وهي متخصصة في الأنثروبولوجيا الاجتماعية الثقافية ، وهي متخصصة في الأنثروبولوجيا الدينية والأنثروبولوجيا في الجنس والنسوية.
تكمن اهتماماتها البحثية الرئيسية في فهم كيفية قيام الناس ، وتجاوز الحدود الدينية وتجاوزها ، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على العلاقة بين الإسلام والعلمانية ، والسلوك الإسلامي مع المجتمعات المسيحية واليهودية ، وتراث النظام العثماني للتنوع في العالم الإسلامي.
